Nelson OdeonO`de´on
A kind of theater in ancient Greece, smaller than the dramatic theater and roofed over, in which poets and musicians submitted their works to the approval of the public, and contended for prizes; - hence, in modern usage, the name of a hall for musical or dramatic performances. There is one still in use that was built by Herodes Atticus at the base of the Athenian Acropolis (AD 161).

The historic Nelson Grange building converted into the The Nelson Odeon, a renovated small community-minded center for performances, nestled in the scenic rolling hills just to the east of Syracuse.

Along with promoting local music from across upstate New York, one of the Odeon’s missions is in bringing small, well respected national acts to the Central New York area to play for music lovers and music discoverers alike.

Inside it's century-old wooden walls breathes a warmth that begs music to flow through and off of. The hall had a stage installed many years ago, complete with footlights and curtains, purpose-built to entertain audiences, from music to plays to speeches. Going unused for decades, the Nelson Odeon breathes new life into the hall from the stage and entertain audiences again as it was intended. Come attend a show or stop by to experience the magic of the Nelson Odeon.
